TECHAGE RECOMMENDS WINDOWS 10


Windows 10, Microsoft’s new operating system is getting rave reviews. It brings back the ease of use of Windows 7 and older Windows versions while keeping all of the great new features of Windows 8. Best of all, it is a FREE upgrade for current users of Windows 7 or Windows 8.1. We think you’ll like Windows 10. Of course, TechAge will be there to help you make the transition with our Meet Windows 10, Introduction to Windows 10 and Take Control of Windows 10 classes.


ABOUT TechAge CLASSES

All TechAge classes are small with a maximum of 10 students, one Instructor and up to three coaches to help students master the content. Students use individual PCs and free help sessions are available from noon - 2 pm weekdays.


HOW TO REGISTER

Registration is easy. Call 461-2000 Ext. 463 or stop by the Learning Center. The registration desk is staffed from noon - 2 pm every weekday.

MEET WINDOWS 10


Moving to Windows 10 from an earlier Windows version? This 2-lesson course will ease your transition. You’ll learn to use its most important features, easily access the programs you use most and get Apps from the new Windows Store where you’ll find thousands of mostly free or low-cost Apps for productivity, information and entertainment.
Fee $25. Prerequisite: Windows 10, planned purchase or upgrade.

This 4-lesson class is for beginners and anyone new to Windows 10. It teaches the essential skills you need to get the most from your PC. You will learn to use and customize the Start menu, use free word processing tools, search using Cortana voice search, manage your files, use the Internet, download and use Apps from the App Store & more
Prerequisite: Windows 10 PC
Fee: $60. Includes Studio Visual Steps text.

This 4-lesson class builds on the skills taught in “Windows 10 Basics - Essentials”. You will learn to safely use your PC with popular Apps to access news, information and entertainment, use the Internet and email, work with photos and backup your computer and files.
Fee $45, Optional text $15.

WINDOWS 10 -BEYOND THE BASICS


Go beyond the basics with this 6-lesson Windows 10 class. Learn to customize your computer, use standard apps to manage photo images and play music/video files, keep your computer safe and up-to-date, organize/back up your files.
Prerequisite: Intermediate computer skills.
Fee $80. Includes purchased text.

NEW *** EDIT AND ORGANIZE YOUR DIGITAL PHOTOS NEW ***


In this 4-lesson class, learn all about digital photo images. Using a Windows computer, you will learn how to organize, edit and prepare digital photos for printing. Using the free web-based Pixlr Express editor, you will work with class digital photos and those from your own camera or cell phone.
Fee $45.
Prerequisite: Basic computer skills. A USB flash drive is required for this class.

FILE MANAGEMENT


In this 3-lesson course you will learn to organize PC’s “electronic filing cabinet”, create an efficient, categorized filing system and save files and folders so you can find them later. You will also learn how to create, move, search for, delete and protect your files and folders and to organize your e-mails and Internet “Favorites”. Course taught with Windows 10 but applicable to both Windows 7 and Windows 8.
Fee $35. Prerequisite: Basic computer skills.

USING MICROSOFT WORD


In this 5-lesson class, you will learn to edit and format your documents and create more interesting and professional looking documents. Skills learned in this class apply to all recent versions of Microsoft Word.

Prerequisite: Basic computer skills. A USB flash drive is required for this class.

USING MICROSOFT EXCEL


In this 4-lesson class you will learn the basics of creating simple spreadsheets to organize, calculate and display data. These spreadsheets can be used to create and analyze household budgets, financial portfolios, address lists and endless other practical applications. Skills learned apply to all recent versions of Microsoft Excel.
Fee $45. Prerequisite: Basic computer skills. A USB flash drive is required for this class.

USING GMAIL


Experts say that Gmail is the best free email service. In this class, you will find out why Gmail is for you, how to switch to it, set up your account and use it. Already using Gmail, you'll learn how to take advantage of its many useful features

GENEALOGY BASICS


Get started on documenting your family history in this 2-lesson class with step-by-step instructions. Learn to use the free FamilySearch.org web site to create your family tree and discover more about your family.
Fee $25. Prerequisite: Basic computer skills.
